9 Years/GOLD for September🎗️
This past August, I officially turned 9 years cancer free! I never got around to posting an update, so I thought i’d wait till September and just do one big post.
With every day that I become older and the farther I drift from my past, I find it hard to remember sometimes to be grateful - especially for the little things. Life gets so busy that I forget to stop, look around, and appreciate everything for what it is. I’m happy, healthy, and have people who love me - What more could I need?
Honestly though, I live a busy busy life. Regardless of all the stress it entails, I couldn’t be luckier to do what I love! I’m either at school, at poms, at my studio, taking pictures, or editing. Oh, and I drive now! Every now and then, I get a little bummed about missing out on some experiences, but I thrive from being busy, so I don’t mind it too much. Besides, how exciting is it that i’m able to do all these things. Just another part of life i’m able to celebrate.
My brother also just left for college which is absolutely bizarre. It was a weird reminder that life moves WAY too fast.
Regardless of all the change and craziness, I’m beyond happy to live the life I do. I wouldn’t have it any other way… except for maybe my brother to come home from college sooner!

September is childhood cancer awareness month - Let’s talk about it!
Childhood cancer is very real and very scary, but i’m sure many people don’t think twice about it. That’s okay! It’s hard to point your attention towards something that hasn’t affected you personally. But why SHOULD you care?
Childhood cancer affects an estimated 400,000 children AND their families each year. By “affect”, I mean countless doctor visits, loads of pokes and cry’s, unexpected medical scares, as well as so many experiences getting stripped away from the fear of catching even a simple cold. Not to mention, it’s the leading cause of death by disease for children in the U.S.
Despite these facts and explanations, childhood cancer research is consistently underfunded. Only 4% of the $5.2 billion cancer research budget goes to childhood cancer.
It’s not something anyone expects or plans for, it just happens. One day you’re healthy focusing on school and friends, the next, your whole life turns upside down. No kid nor parent would ever wish that upon themselves - every kid deserves to grow up.
This September, i’m proudly fundraising for Make-A-Wish in honor of childhood cancer awareness month. Make-A-Wish has gone above and beyond for both me and my family throughout my treatment and still to this day. They gave me the chance to feel like a normal kid - in other words, hope.
